Primary Use: Light-weight and multi-day hiking
UPDATE July 2020:
After 13 years of intense use, this tent finally reached its end-of-life. Floor of inner tent started to flake off and the outer tent completely lost its water repellency. So it was time to say good bye and buy another tent. I replaced it with a Hilleberg Enan (not because Macpac tents aren’t good but because I was looking for a light solo tent and I absolutely loved the quality of my Hilleberg Soulo, hence decided to buy another one from them).
Review:
My original intent when buying this tent was to get a bomb-proof and reliable tent that is big enough for me and my backpack while at the same time light-weight for my regular hiking activities. I have never regretted this purchase and although today there are other tents on the market with similar weight and more internal space - I still use this tent on a regular basis in all 4 seasons. Manufacturing quality is superb and there is nothing that is yet worn out or broke. Macpac has improved the weight and fabric even further over the years, with the same model now featuring a thinner siliconized fabric compared to my previous model.
Pros:
- Very fast and easy to put up
- Super water and wind proof
- Light-Weight
- Inner our outer tent can be pitched separately
- Although not a winter tent by design, I have used it multiple times in the snow and never had any issues with it.
Cons:
- Not ideal for hot and humid weather conditions as ventilation is quite poor (I typically don't use it during hot summer periods)
- Inside room is not as spacious as the new Macpac Sololight for instance.
