Review:
Technology in the headlamp space has changed/improved dramatically over the years. While my previous Petzl headlamp is still working perfectly, I purchased the MYO in 2007 simply because it provided better light while using less battery than older models. The headlamp provides 10 levels of brightness that are programmable, however I found the 3 default settings are perfectly fine for pretty much any use-case. Its light and comfortable to wear and I like the option of flipping the diffuser element down for reading or general night walking/running. If you need to look far ahead, flip the diffuser up and you get a really bright beam reaching far ahead. I full battery load in medium level brightness usually gets you through the entire night without any issue. Downside of the lamp is the weird switch on/off button - which is sometimes hard to find on the go especially when you have gloves on. Otherwise a really great headlamp.
Pros:
- Light and comfortable to wear
- Good battery life
- Many different levels of brightness
- Flash option (for SOS)
- Good water and bad weather resistance
- Diffuser/long-reach beam option
Cons:
- Awkward on/off button
- No red light option
Comment:
Would certainly buy another one of this model, however there are even better ones out there today due to the change in technology. This headlamp however is a good pick if you want something really reliable for any night activity that has a fairly small form factor and excellent brightness.
