Primary Use: Rough terrain and multi-day hiking
Review:
Update February 2024: After using these boots extensively for a good 10 years, on my last trip the sole started to separate from the main part on one boot. Could potentially be glued/fixed by a proper repair shop but maybe not worth it. Other than that, they held up great for 10+ years.
It was not until I had bought and used these Scarpa hiking boots that I fully understood the difference between hiking shoes/boots and a *REAL* hiking boot. While not cheap, you get what you pay for. I bought these boots for my multi-day hiking adventures and I would not use anything else. They are obviously heavier than your regular light hiking boot and this is something to get used to. But the comfort from day one is second to none. There was no 'walk-in' period, I never had any blisters in them even after a full day walking. They are super comfortable and feel so protective, making you think you can walk through and over anything in your way. The thread of the sole is very deep and rugged, provided awesome grip on all surfaces. The rubber is hard wearing, making the entire shoe very durable in all conditions (I have used these shoes even on snow for a few days). An awesome pair of hiking boots which I would surely buy again!
Pros:
- Durable materials, high manufacturing quality
- Waterproof
- Great lacing system
- Rugged, hard wearing sole with excellent grip
- Super comfortable, no walk-in period
- Very good foot and ankle support
Cons:
- Expensive
- A bit heavy if you are not used to hiking boots but that will be the same for any decent boot
Comment:
Highly recommended hiking boots if you are after something durable that can take you through any type of terrain.
